 What to Expect

Six choices of ride distance, varying level of difficulty and elevation gain, all paved or part paved and part gravel.

Some amazing scenery with ranch lands and barn quilts.  Start of fall colors.   All ride options offer aid stations support,  and sag wagons.  Delicious catered lunch from Young's Market in Taylorsville and cold beer at the finish.

The Bear Growl Century offers 6 choices of routes and distances to choose from:

97 Mile Gravel Ride:  9,100 feet of elevation gain.  60/40 gravel to pavement ratio

58 Mile Gravel Ride  3, 500 feet of elevation gain.  60/40 gravel to pavement ratio.

39 MIle Gravel Ride   70/30 gravel to pavement ratio.

101 Mile Paved Ride 6.000 feet of elevation gain.

68 Mile Paved Ride

33 Mile Pave Ride     Mostly flat. 

 

All rides start from Taylorsville Campground at 7 am.  For more information call Casey Peters ride director at 530-284-7007.  This ride is put on by Mountain Circle Family Services Inc.  100% of proceeds support children in foster care.  Besides being a fundraiser for the youth of foster care, Mountain Circle Family Services has a goal to bring an exciting and challenging bike ride to beautiful Indian Valley that has options for riders of all ages and abilities.

 

Plan on staying for the post ride Tri-Tip dinner at 6 pm.  Cost $18.00.

St. Bernard Lodge is about 30 minutes from the Taylorsville Camprgound. Book a room at the lodge and stay an extra day to visit Lassen Volcanic National Park or visit more of our back roads for biking.
