Winter Film Festival at Lassen Park is back again this year
When: Saturday January 17th through Monday, January 19, 2015
Where: KohmYah-mah-nee Visitor Center
Time: 10 am – 4 pm each day
This will be the third year for the Winter Film Festival at Lassen Park. Plan your visit to Lassen Park to celebrate Lassen Volcanic National Park and outdoor recreation through film.
The Winter Film Festival will be featuring 6 full length films; Ultimate Mars Challenge, The City Dark, Tell it on the Mountain, The Great Vacation Squeeze, Glacier Caves; Mt. Hood’s Secret World and Ishi the Last Yahi.
There are also 13 different short films of 15 minutes or less. Please visit Lassen Park website for showing times and details on each of the films. This Winter Film Festival has something for any out door enthusiast.
If you are not into watching films about the great outdoors you can simply enjoy the park and take in some great vistas while skiing, snowshoeing or just sledding.
Winter Snow Sports at Lassen
Bring your sleds, snowshoes and or skis to enjoy the winter wonderland of Lassen Park before or after watching a film. Sledding is available close to parking area. Short one mile walk along park road from visitor center to Sulphur Works is great for snowshoe beginners.
More advanced trails for both XC and back-country skiing and snowshoeing include McGowan Lake, Ridge Lakes, Brokeoff , Mt. Diller, and Pilot Pinnacle. Maps of winter trails for Lassen Park and Lassen National Forest.

Lassen Park will be offering Ranger-led snowshoe walks on both Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Lassen Cafe will be open for the weekend or bring your own picnic to enjoy by the natural stone fireplace in the visitor center. Many visitors love to tailgate in the parking lot.
Monday January 19th is the first fee free day of 2015 in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
This is a great weekend to visit Lassen Park. It is your choice to be adventurous or just stay at the visitor center and enjoy some great films offered during the Winter Film Festival at Lassen Park.
